06.15.09: Welcome to the new website. It was time for a little freshening up. I realized my last big change was over five years ago. Web technology has advanced in that time, bringing with it new techniques and resources, and making dynamic content more available than ever before.

New features include my Game Creation Resources & Classic Game Links in a complete listing on a single page.

All my old, no longer-supported games now reside on my Blog, with screenshots and download links.

Klik & Play and Click & Create are game creation software tools that gained popularity in the late 1990s and early 2000s. They were developed by Maxis Software, the same company responsible for popular games like SimCity and The Sims. These tools were designed to make game development accessible to individuals without extensive programming knowledge.

Klik & Play:

Released in 1994, Klik & Play was one of the earliest game creation tools to offer a graphical interface for designing games. It allowed users to create games using a point-and-click interface, eliminating the need for traditional programming. The software provided a variety of pre-made game objects and elements, such as characters, backgrounds, and sound effects, which users could easily customize and combine to create their own games. Klik & Play was particularly popular for its simplicity, making it suitable for beginners and those with limited programming skills.

Click & Create:

Building on the success of Klik & Play, Click & Create (also known as The Games Factory) was released in 1995 as an enhanced version. Click & Create retained the user-friendly point-and-click interface of its predecessor but introduced additional features and improved functionality. The software included a wider range of pre-built objects and allowed users to create more complex games with enhanced graphics and gameplay elements. Click & Create also supported the creation of both 2D and simple 3D games, expanding the possibilities for game designers.

Both Klik & Play and Click & Create played a significant role in encouraging hobbyist game development during their time. They were accessible tools that allowed people with creative ideas but limited programming skills to bring their game concepts to life. However, as technology advanced and more sophisticated game development tools became available, these early point-and-click game creation tools gradually faded into obscurity.

It's worth noting that there are more modern and robust game development engines available today, such as Unity and Unreal Engine, which offer powerful features and greater flexibility for both beginners and experienced developers.
